SafeBulk vs Hextom: Bulk Product Edit
Hextom: Bulk Product Edit is one of the longest-standing bulk editors on the Shopify App Store (launched October 2015). It is a capable, form-based editor with CSV support and scheduled edits. SafeBulk competes with it on one axis specifically: whether the undo can be trusted when an edit goes wrong.
TL;DR: Hextom is the more feature-complete editor today — it has scheduled edits now and a decade of polish. But its own public reviews document revert failing on the destructive cases (deleted variants, detached images). If your top priority is an undo that provably covers deletions, SafeBulk is built for that; if you need scheduling today, Hextom has it and SafeBulk does not yet.

Where Hextom is stronger
- Scheduled edits, today. Hextom offers scheduled tasks on its $19.99 plan and up (10 tasks) and its $49.99 plan (100 tasks). SafeBulk has no scheduling in version one. This is a real gap, not a rounding error.
- CSV support and a decade of maturity. Launched 2015, 4.9 stars across roughly 1,071 reviews, part of a 13-app portfolio.
- Higher single-task ceilings on the top tier (50,000 products per task on $49.99).
Where SafeBulk is stronger
This is the case, and it comes straight from Hextom’s own public reviews.
- Undo that is built for deletions. Hextom advertises “revert any product edit,” but merchants report it failing exactly when it matters. One review: a merchant “accidentally deleted variants on over 5k products” with no working revert; another pleaded for “the ability to restore variants,” noting it was “20+ days to restore” (Feb 2025). A March 2026 review describes edits “leaving behind orphaned product images.” SafeBulk’s rollback is built from full pre-job snapshots to re-create deleted variants and re-attach images — and it states honestly, before you confirm, what it can and cannot restore.
- Post-job verification for silent partial failures. A February 2026 Hextom review reports a job that found 29 items but “only deleted 11, 18 unedited.” SafeBulk re-reads every touched row after a job and shows a matched/failed table, then auto-retries failures.
- No silent scheduling failures baked into the pitch. A July 2025 review notes Hextom “scheduled tasks will just randomly not execute” with “no info on why.” SafeBulk does not ship scheduling in v1 rather than ship it unreliably — and when it does, failure alerting is part of the design.
- Flat pricing, no per-task cap. Hextom gates 500 products per task at $9.99 and 5,000 at $19.99. SafeBulk’s Pro is unlimited products per job at a flat $19.
- Cleaner billing expectations. A May 2026 review reports being “charged renewal” days after cancelling and uninstalling. (This is partly Shopify’s billing-cycle mechanics.) SafeBulk aims to state its billing behavior plainly in-app.

Frequently asked questions
Doesn't Hextom already have a revert?
Hextom advertises 'revert any product edit' on every tier. The gap merchants report in public reviews is that revert has failed on the destructive cases — deleted variants and detached images — which are exactly the edits you most need to undo. SafeBulk's rollback is built from full pre-job snapshots specifically to cover those cases, and it tells you honestly what it can and cannot restore before you confirm.
Does SafeBulk have scheduled edits like Hextom?
Not in version one. Scheduled and recurring edits are a genuine Hextom strength (on its $19.99 plan and up). If scheduling is essential to you today, Hextom has it and SafeBulk does not yet.
How do the prices compare?
As of July 2026 Hextom runs a free demo (10 products per task), then $9.99 (500 per task), $19.99 (5,000 per task, 10 scheduled tasks) and $49.99 (50,000 per task). SafeBulk is a flat $19/month for unlimited products per job, with a free plan that includes undo. Check current listings.
Does Hextom limit how many products I can edit at once?
Yes — Hextom gates products per task by tier (500 on the $9.99 plan, 5,000 on $19.99). SafeBulk's Pro plan does not cap products per job.
